Tua Tagovailoa Reacts to Fulfilling Destiny and Joining Dolphins and Shouts Out Dan Marino
By Andrew Gullotta
There have been talks for almost a year that the Dolphins were interested in selecting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as their next face of the franchise. Last night, that finally came true when Miami selected the Hawaii native at a far different pick than they'd assumed they'd hold.
Back in the 2019 offseason, many Dolphins fans created the slogan, "Tank for Tua," which gave the team hope as they unloaded many veterans off their roster. Even though Miami wasn't the worst team last season, they were still able to select Tagovailoa at No. 5 due in part to his ongoing injury questions, as well as Joe Burrow's ascendance.
Tagovailoa addressed Dolphins Nation in an excited tweet early Friday morning -- clearly, he is ready to work with his new team!
With the Tagovailoa prophecy completed, Miami will look finish up their rebuild and compete in the near future. The team has many young players that will look to make an impact on both sides of the ball, including Xavien Howard, Christian Wilkins, DeVante Parker, and now a kingpin at QB.
Pair that with a good group of newly acquired veterans, like Kyle Van Noy and Byron Jones, and the Dolphins have a a pretty solid roster in 2020.
Armed with young talent, veteran leadership, and a plethora of draft picks, Tagovailoa and the Dolphins with look to write a new chapter in the team's history book, and bring back the winning ways of the franchise.
