Tua Tagovailoa's Family Reportedly Doesn't Want Him to Get Drafted by Lions

The Cincinnati Bengals are all but officially taking Joe Burrow at No. 1 in the 2020 NFL draft, and the Miami Dolphins will likely take a quarterback at No. 5. The big wild card among QB-needy teams early on could be the Detroit Lions, who pick No. 3 this year.

If they decide to trade Matthew Stafford, they could end up taking Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa at No. 3. Tua's family, however, isn't too keen on that, as reports suggest that they are against having Tua play for one of the more lackluster and snakebitten franchises in the NFL.

Stafford is currently the quarterback in Detroit, and he will be for a long time, given his contract. However, there are rumors that Detroit could be trying to trade him and start over new with a player like Tagovailoa.

Considering that Stafford had the best season of his career in terms of passer rating, yards per attempt, and TD/INT ratio under new OC Darrell Bevell, and considering the fact that Stafford went 3-4-1, while backups Jeff Driskell and David Blough went 0-8, that would come as a bit of an odd move.

Things could get interesting if the medicals aren't favorable to Tua and the Lions pick him, as he isn't in a position like Eli Manning or John Elway was wherein they had the leverage to refuse to play for the team that drafted them.
