Twins Clinch AL Central After Indians' Embarrassing Loss to Ross Detwiler and the White Sox
By Thomas Carannante
Time to party, Twins fans! Not only did you just clinch the AL Central, but the Cleveland Indians moved closer toward being eliminated from the postseason altogether.
Minnesota staged another comeback win against the lowly Detroit Tigers to improve to 98-60, which put their magic number at one. That magic number turned to dust, however, when the Tribe got crushed by the Chicago White Sox in a matchup between Shane Bieber and Ross Detwiler.
There's a new cream of the crop in the Central! The Twins have ended the Indians' streak of three consecutive division titles and hope to advance past the ALDS to make Cleveland fans feel even worse about themselves.
It's the first time the Twins have won a division title since 2010! That year they unfortunately got swept by the New York Yankees, who are expected to be their first playoff opponent this year, in the ALDS.
Minnesota is hoping that little sliver of history doesn't repeat itself. After all, with their start-to-finish relentless campaign, this team is trying to dispel the past and march forward into the postseason with a full head of steam.
