Twins Release Lineup for Game 1 of ALDS Against Yankees
By Parker White
The Minnesota Twins will face New York Yankees left-handed starter James Paxton (15-6, 3.82 ERA) in Game 1 of the ALDS, so manager Rocco Baldelli will play the matchups; his starting lineup reflects a stark willingness to adjust.
Here's a look at Minnesota's starting lineup for Game 1.
Catcher Mitch Garver, who has 31 home runs on the season, will be in the leadoff spot, followed by shortstop Jorge Polanco and veteran designated hitter Nelson Cruz.
Eddie Rosario will start in right field and bat cleanup, providing protection for Cruz with his 32 home runs and 109 RBI.
The thump in the Twins lineup continues down in the order, as Miguel Sano, Max Kepler, Marwin Gonzalez and C.J. Cron will follow Rosario. This foursome has combined for a whopping 110 home runs.
The only noticeable change is Luis Arraez getting the start at second base over Jonathan Schoop. The left-handed hitting Arraez has been dealing with an ankle sprain that he recently suffered, so the fact he's on the ALDS roster is a shocker to begin with, much less getting the start and batting ninth against Paxton.
Game 1 of the ALDS between the Twins and Yankees begins at 7:07 pm ET at Yankee Stadium.
