Twins Reportedly 'Pessimistic' in Josh Donaldson Pursuit After Latest Price Tag Update
By Karl Rasmussen
Josh Donaldson's latest demands in free agency may see one of his suitors fold out of the race. The star third baseman the most coveted position player remaining on the market, and leading the way in his sweepstakes are the Braves, Nationals and Twins.
Well, based on the latest floated price tag for JD, one of those teams may be dropping out of the mix. The Minnesota Twins are reportedly "pessimistic" over their chances at securing a deal with the 34-year-old.
Donaldson's most recent demands see the slugger requesting a four-year worth around $110 million. What was initially expected to be a $100 million deal continues to increase, and that may cause the Twins to cease their interest.
The price tag, however, may not be the only reason the Twins aren't optimistic. According to a report from Phil Miller, it's believed that Donaldson would prefer to land with the Braves or Nationals, rather than move to Minnesota.
Donaldson slashed .259/.379/.521 with 37 home runs, 94 RBI and 96 runs. While the lumber still clearly clicks for JD, he's still an elite defensive presence at the hot corner.
While Minnesota seems to be on the verge of bowing out, it remains unclear whether the Braves or Nationals are willing to match his latest price tag.
