Twins Reportedly Re-Sign Reliever Sergio Romo
By Chris Pyo
The Minnesota Twins will have a key component of their bullpen back for the 2020 season, as reliever Sergio Romo has re-signed with the Twins.
Romo was traded from the Miami Marlins to the Twins at the MLB trade deadline this past July, and he appeared in 27 games for the Twins, sporting a 3.18 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 22.2 innings.
Romo is most known for his stint with the massively-successful San Francisco Giants, having pitched consistently for them from 2008 to 2016 and winning three World Series titles. He famously closed out the Giants' sweep of the Detroit Tigers in the 2012 World Series by striking out Miguel Cabrera.
Since then, he's bounced around with the likes of the Dodgers, Rays, Marlins and now the Twins.
For his career, Romo has a 2.92 ERA with a 40-32 record and 129 saves. He'll return to a Twins bullpen that includes Taylor Rogers, Trevor May and Tyler Duffey, perhaps as a setup man, and try to help Minnesota to another postseason berth.
