The Minnesota Twins set a record by hitting 307 home runs while on their way to a 101 win 2019 campaign.

One of their bigger sluggers, Nelson Cruz, is reportedly set to return in 2020.

Jon Heyman is reporting that the Twins will pick up Cruz's $12 million option for next year.

Signing Cruz last winter to a one-year, $14.3 million contract turned out to be one of the best deals in the offseason. The 39-year-old will actually get a pay cut a season after hitting .311/.392/.639 with 41 homers and 108 RBI.

Only two other Twins, Harmon Killebrew and Brian Dozier, have ever hit 40 home runs in a season.

Earlier this month, Cruz said that he wanted to return to the Twins, citing the organization's history, talent and atmosphere.

Cruz is still excelling at an age where most players are being pushed, or have already been pushed, out of the league. But as long as he can still mash dingers, there will always be a role for him in the AL as a DH.
