Tyler Glasnow Could Be Done for Season After Rays Shut Him Down for 2 More Weeks
By Michael Luciano

Just when it looked like Tampa Bay Rays starter and former Pirates top prospect Tyler Glasnow had finally figured it out, the baseball gods had to slam on the breaks and give Glasnow a forearm strain that has sidelined him since May.
The Rays just shut down Glasnow for two more weeks after his MRI, and manager Kevin Cash has no idea if Glasnow can or will return to help their playoff push.
#Rays Cash said Glasnow, who got an MRI Monday, will he shut down from throwing for two more weeks, which puts his return in more doubt. “I don’t know” Cash said, when asked about his potential return this season.

After struggling mightily with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Glasnow has been born anew with the Rays, posting a 3.12 ERA in 19 starts with the team over the last year. In 2019, Glasnow had a 6-1 record and a sparkling 1.86 ERA.
While a rotation of him, 2018 Cy Young winner Blake Snell, star free agent signing Charlie Morton, and surprise left-hander Yonny Chirinos could be among the best in baseball, Glasnow hasn't been healthy long enough to see that master plan come to fruition.
Before his forearm injury it was easy to see Tyler Glasnow as one of the very best in the sport, and the majority of that performance looked fully earned and supported by an outstanding K/BB gap that would be amongst the best in the game for those with his workload, but alas... pic.twitter.com/WHgPDI50Hn

A rotation of Morton, Snell, Glasnow, Chirinos, and über-talented two-way prospect Brendan McKay could be Tampa Bay's meal ticket to a deep October run, but Cash and the Rays might need to wait until 2020 to integrate Glasnow back into the rotation.
