Tyler Lockett Expected to Inherit Doug Baldwin's Role as Seahawks Slot Receiver
By Max Scoli
Since former NFL Super Bowl champion Doug Baldwin announced his retirement following injuries to both his knees, an elbow, a shoulder, a hip and his groin in the 2018 season alone, one question has been looming: Who will take over as the first option in the slot?
To no one's surprise, the answer is Tyler Lockett.
Lockett is widely known for his abilities as a return specialist, but his combination of speed and soft hands also make him a threat as a wideout. The Kansas State product has been named to three All-Pro teams over the course of his four-year career and only gets better with time. He finished his 2018 campaign as the Seattle Seahawks leading receiver with 965 passing yards and 10 touchdowns, both career highs.
His chemistry with Russell Wilson is unmatched. Wilson threw 70 passes to Lockett this year, completing 57 of them for a perfect 158.3 passer rating. This was the first time any receiver had ever put up a perfect passer rating with over 15 targets. That's absurd.
The one-time Pro-Bowler thrives under pressure, giving us every reason to believe the Seahawks are in good hands.
