VIDEO: Tyreek Hill Discusses Desire to Try Out for the Olympics in Track and Field
By Alex Coffman
Tyreek Hill is getting prepared for the biggest event of his life, and it's not the Super Bowl! Yes, the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver and told members of the media this week that he wants to try out for the US Olympic track and field team ahead of the 2020 games in Tokoyo. You can't make this stuff up, folks.
Hill said that if all goes according to plan, he's really going to try out for Team USA track and field in hopes of making the Olympics. He even wants to get his Chiefs teammates involved.
"Maybe get a few guys off the team and see if we can get a relay together and show these track guys, hey... we used to do this back in high school," Hill said.
Hill insisted that he's actually looked into what it would take to fight for an Olympic team spot, indicating that his football weight is perhaps the only real obstacle standing in his way. He said he would have to drop at least 20 pounds in order to compete at the highest level in track and field, but was admittedly unsure he wanted to go that extra mile (so to speak) after working so hard to stay at 195 pounds for the NFL season.
This is not what you expected you're star wide receiver to be saying at Super Bowl media day, but it is perhaps invigorating know these players are such competitors that their ambitions might even exceed the NFL. Good luck, Tyreek! You're gonna need it.
