Tyson Fury's Cut Above Eye is Major Concern Heading Into Saturday Rematch vs Deontay Wilder
By Jerry Trotta
To say that it's difficult to determine an edge that either one of Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder have heading into their highly-hyped rematch on Saturday night would be underselling just how equally-matched these two heavyweights are.
However, once you take a stroll down memory lane to Fury's last bout, you'll come to terms with a pivotal factor working in Wilder's favor.
Remember the gruesome gash that Fury suffered above his eye against Otto Wallin in September of 2019? Well, that's it. That's the concern for the Gypsy King.
The wound was so grotesque that it required 47 (!) stitches. Fury apologists may want to believe that the laceration is fully-healed, but that prognosis should be flushed down the toilet with Wilder and his thunderous right hand standing on the opposite corner of the ring.
You really think that the Bronze Bomber won't be looking to re-open that cut? If he manages to do so, well, things will get ugly in a hurry for Fury. Wilder even claimed -- in a statement that was confirmed by Fury -- that the Gypsy King's cut was re-opened during sparring.
Once Wilder catches a whiff of blood above that eye, he will go on the offensive with career knockout No. 42 in mind. This is definitely a narrative to keep an eye on in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
