One of the UFC's biggest stars is in hot water with the law.

Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has been charged with battery stemming from an incident that occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico back in April.

Jones stands accused of slapping a cocktail waitress in her genitals and putting her into a choke hold while in a strip club in the area. The waitress also said that Jones continued to touch her inappropriately until he decided to leave the establishment, per her report to the police.

He could face jail time if he's convicted on the charge.

A spokesperson for Jones showed his camp's clear disdain for the charge, saying that "multiple witnesses stand ready to factually refute the malicious lies being told about him to the public."

Jones doesn't exactly have a clean track record with the law. He was charged in a hit-and-run back in 2015 and pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in 2012, though he avoided jail time in that case.

He polished off a win by decision over Thiago Santos early in July, but he might have to put his fighting career on hold to deal with these incredibly concerning allegations.
