A glut of MLB players are using the league's current hiatus to exploit their platform for the greater good. Look no further than former hurler Ryan Dempster teaching young players drills they can practice during quarantine. Additionally, Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez has taken the time to thank medical professionals on the front lines, and Mets slugger Pete Alonso did much of the same in a touching video montage. Well, it would appear that umpires are following the lead of the players. Check out this awesome clip of Daniel Labrie, an ump from Maine, who has been spending his time sewing masks for health care workers.

"I would urge any umpire to check with their local craft shops - most are making these kits for the public because the demand is so urgent. Some Walmarts are doing it," Labrie told UMPS Care Charities. "I hope this inspires people!”

This is just amazing from Labrie, and we sincerely hope that more individuals -- not just umpires -- follow his lead. The scarcity of masks has been a growing concern of hospitals and other health care institutions as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread throughout the nation.
