UNC Freshman Armando Bacot Calls Out Andy Katz for Ridiculous Cole Anthony Mistake
By Daniel Lubofsky
Cole Anthony was one of the most sought-after prospects coming out of Oak Hill Academy this past recruiting season. He averaged 18.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game as a senior, and was the No. 2 overall rated prospect according to ESPN. He's most certainly the next in a long line of UNC star point guards.
According to most.
Officially committed to the University of North Carolina, Anthony is expected to heavily contend for a number of individual trophies. Most in the media tend to feel the same way, but not everyone.
NCAA.com's Andy Katz released a rankings list of players he expects to contend for the Bob Cousy Award, an honor that recognizes the top collegiate point guard.
Nowhere on that list was Cole Anthony, prompting fellow UNC commit Armando Bacot Jr. to fire off a tweet in defense of his new teammate, wondering if Katz was even evaluating his position properly.
The two have yet to play a game together, yet Bacot already has strong admiration for his point guard.
Seems Katz thinks Anthony doesn't qualify as such; he's added him to a watch list for an entirely different position, instead.
Weirdly cold? Anthony's a true PG who can dominate, until proven otherwise.
We probably won't get Anthony's take on Twitter. Instead, his actions on the court will likely do all the talking necessary.
