This Undrafted Free Agent is Guaranteed to Make the Saints

The New Orleans Saints only had a handful of picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, but they made the most of it, adding some potential starters in Michigan's Cesar Ruiz, Wisconsin's Zack Baun and Dayton's Adam Trautman.

Their UDFA haul was equally as impressive. Oregon offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton, a four-year starter, will head to New Orleans along with Michigan State linebacker Joe Bachie and Tennessee deep threat Marquez Callaway. The best player in the group, however, is Oregon receiver Juwan Johnson, a Shrine Bowl star who stands 6-4 and weighs 235 pounds.

A Penn State transfer, some thought Johnson might need to convert to tight end at the next level, but he proved those doubters wrong with a 4.58 40-yard dash.

His consistency needs some work, but few corners can outmuscle Johnson at the line of scrimmage or deep down the field. For his size, his nifty route-running ability really pops on film, as does his ability to contort his body and make some show-stopping catches.

Drew Brees would have another reliable weapon in the red zone, as Johnson helped snag quite a few contested passes from Justin Herbert in college.

Johnson is that big-bodied receiver that the Saints are missing right now. A Shrine Bowl stud with tons of potential as an X receiver at the next level, Johnson seems like a lock to make it on the Saints roster.
