The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers were involved in a thriller of a Monday Night Football matchup that ultimately saw Pete Carroll's side emerge victorious on a game-winning field goal in the closing seconds of overtime.

Unfortunately for Seattle, the win came at a cost as star wideout Tyler Lockett was forced to sit out of OT after fielding the kickoff on the final play of regulation.

Following the game, Lockett was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation after sustaining a "severe lower leg contusion" that swelled up significantly while he was sitting on the sidelines.

What makes the update all the more alarming is the fact that Carroll was genuinely concerned about compartment syndrome being correlated with Lockett's injury.

"He’s out of here right now to get looked at," Carroll said after the game. "It will be OK but it’s a pretty severe situation for right now...The contusion caused a lot of swelling right away and there are concerns about that so they’ve got to make sure. There’s a compartment element in this so they’ve got to make sure and just got to take care of him. And we’re ahead of it so we should be in good shape."

For those wondering just how serious compartment syndrome can be, the details are extremely graphic, and it makes the Seahawks look THAT much wiser for sending Lockett for treatment as soon as they did.

Scary stuff.

The former Pro Bowler will surely elude the worst of it, but it's time for Seattle fans to start worrying if their star pass catcher will be forced to miss some time.
