USA Today Blatantly Uses Wrong Photo in Obituary for Former Eagle Timothy Brown
By Michael Luciano
Former Philadelphia Eagles running back Timothy Brown, who made three Pro Bowls in the early 1960s as a halfback, passed away at the age of 82.
In USA Today's obituary to the former football star turned actor, they didn't necessarily pay 100% accurate tribute, though. The paper accidentally included a picture of Oakland Raiders Hall of Famer Tim Brown instead of the former Eagle -- that Brown is very much alive.
Brown waking up to find out that he was 30 years older than he thought he was, an Eagle and not a Raider, and dead had to have been a shock for him.
Brown played for 10 seasons in the NFL, eight of which came with the Eagles. During that span, he ran for almost 4,000 yards, while making three Pro Bowls and leading the league in yards per touch twice.
While the best years of his career came on some really bad Eagles teams, Brown was a member of the 1960 championship team, and his last year in the league was spent as a backup on the Baltimore Colts side that famously lost to the New York Jets in Super Bowl III.
After football, Brown turned to acting, with the part of Captain Oliver "Spearchucker" Jones on season one of the hit show "MASH" serving as his defining role.
While not as accomplished on the football field as the former Notre Dame star, Brown was a solid running back who flew under the radar by virtue of playing on some bad Eagles teams. Eagles fans and fans of MASH will be gutted to hear of his passing.
