Vernon Davis didn't have some big speech, touching video, or big goodbye press conference. Instead, he just hung out with Rob Gronkowski and told him he was done in the NFL. After a 15-year career, Davis announced that he was retiring from football as part of a Golden Girls parody skit that he filmed with Rob Gronkowski during the former Patriots tight end's Super Bowl beach party.

That's just a bit less dramatic than how his brother Vontae famously announced he retired last season.

Davis, who was a star receiver and tight end at Maryland, showed up to the 2006 Combine at 254 pounds, but still managed to run a 4.38 40-yard dash. The San Francisco 49ers picked him sixth overall in 2006, and he proceeded to pump put a decade of consistent production.

The two-time Pro Bowler led the league in touchdowns with 13 in 2009 while piling up 5,640 yards and 55 total touchdowns during his tenure in San Francisco. He made two Pro Bowls in 10 seasons.

Davis was traded to the Denver Broncos in 2015, where he won his only Super Bowl. He spent the last four years as Jordan Reed's backup/fill-in starter with the Washington Redskins.

With a championship ring in tow, Davis had nothing left to prove at the NFL level. Enjoy retirement, Vernon!
