Veteran WR Dontrelle Inman Signs With Chargers Following Release From Patriots
By Karl Rasmussen

Dontrelle Inman requested his release from the Patriots earlier this week following the reinstatement of wide receiver Josh Gordon by the NFL. Inman's role in New England looked a lot smaller with the return of Gordon, prompting the wideout to seek greener pastures.
Well, he's found a new home with a familiar team. Ian Rapoport reports that Inman has latched on with the Chargers, reuniting with his former club.
A reunion: Free agent WR Dontrelle Inman is signing back with the LA #Chargers, source said. They made an offer that stood as he took visits. The #Jets made an offer, too, but the pull QB Philip Rivers played a big part. So he’s back.

Inman was also drawing interest from the Jets, though Rapoport claims that the allure of re-teaming with Philip Rivers was a big factor in Inman's decision.
The 30-year-old spent the first three years of his career in San Diego with the Chargers, and played four games for them after their move to Los Angeles. He spent 12 games in Chicago in 2017 and played nine games for the Colts in 2018.

Inman signed with the Patriots in March, but his commitment was short lived. He'll now be back with the quarterback he's most acquainted with in Rivers, and he'll seek to earn some targets behind the likes of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and tight end Hunter Henry.
In his five-year career, the former Virginia standout has recorded 158 receptions for 2,101 yards and 11 touchdowns, including four in 2016.
