Victor Cruz Tells Giants Beat Writer He's Ready for Comeback and it Sounds Like He Means it

Get ready for the return of the salsa dance...?
The post-Odell Beckham receiving corps the New York Giants have constructed has immediately collapsed in training camp, as Sterling Shepard has a fractured thumb, Corey Coleman a torn ACL, and prized free agent Golden Tate a four-game suspension to deal with for PED use.
Former Giants star Victor Cruz, who has been out of the league since 2016, has offered his services to the receiver-needy Giants, and we don't think he's playing around.
After scraping onto the roster in 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of Massachusetts, the Patterson, NJ native exploded onto the scene in 2011, piling up 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns. He followed that up with a Pro Bowl season in 2012 and a 998-yard season in 2013.
Cruz hasn't played a down since 2016, when injuries finally began to sap his elusiveness and lateral quickness. If Cruz is in football shape, the Giants might have nowhere else to turn, and might end up giving No. 80 a call.
For any Giant fan nervous about their wide receiver situation in a season in which they could play a rookie quarterback, don't worry. Dave Gettleman is your GM, so everything will be fine. Right?
