VIDEO: A's Record Bizarre Out at 2nd Base Against the Angels
Tie game. Top of the ninth. Every out matters. Every moment matters. Everyone wants to be the guys to make the game-winning play. Today, Kole Calhoun tried to be that guy for the Los Angeles Angels-- too bad Marcus Semien had the same idea for the Oakland A's. The A's defense was able to get a second out in the frame in bizarre fashion:
The ball was picked up at third and tossed over to shortstop Semien, who was initially unable to tag Calhoun. The Angels baserunner then appeared to start a run towards third with Semien' back turned, but before he could make it back on base, Semien had turned and tagged him out.
Semien seemed to be unamused at Calhoun's head-scratching attempt to take third base. That's probably not the best move to make at the top of the ninth inning with the game on the line, big man.
