VIDEO: Aaron Judge Shows Major Love to Pete Alonso for Tying His Rookie HR Record
By Sean Facey
Mets and Yankees fans might be at each other's throats in the debate over Pete Alonso and Aaron Judge, but the two superstar sluggers have shown nothing but mutual respect toward one another. In fact, Judge went out of his way to congratulate Alonso on slugging his 52nd home run this year, tying the rookie home run record that he set just two years ago:
"No better person to share it with," said the ever-humble Judge. "He's eventually going to break it, I know that for sure."
Judge's congratulatory words are a fantastic compliment to Alonso's request to get dinner with him. Perhaps this could be the start of a lasting bond for the two of them!
As to whether or not Alonso will end up breaking the record remains to be seen. He still has two games left in the season to slug his 53rd home run, so if he can manage that, the Mets will at least have something to celebrate from the 2019 season.
