VIDEO: Albert Almora Slugs Fifth May Home Run to Put Cubs on the Board
By Sean Facey
Down 2-0 early to the Cincinnati Reds, the Chicago Cubs needed a response to the two-spot that the Reds had put on the board in the top half of the inning. Center fielder Albert Almora provided the spark they needed, slugging a solo home run off of Reds starter Tyler Mahle to do just that in the bottom of the second inning.
The no-doubter was Almora's fifth home run of the month and his sixth of the year. The shot also gave him his 19th run batted in for the season.
According to Statcast, the ball had an exit velocity of 102.7 mph and landed 415 feet from home plate.
