VIDEO: Albert Pujols Exchanges Jerseys With Yadier Molina After Final Game in St. Louis
By Sam Dunn
Albert Pujols hasn't played for the St. Louis Cardinals since 2011, but that doesn't mean the future first-ballot Hall of Famer won't always be royalty in Redbirds country. On Sunday evening, in what is almost certainly the Angels veteran's final career game at Busch Stadium, he received a hero's ovation for every at bat, and finished the evening with a jersey swap with former teammate and longtime friend Yadier Molina.
Brothers until the end.
The Cardinals made it interesting in the ninth inning after falling behind 6-0, but their comeback bid fell short, with the visiting Halos taking a 6-4 result. Pujols recorded 2 hits on the day, and received more love from the crowd than anyone in the building.
And it wasn't even close.
There won't ever be another Albert Pujols. Who finishes their MLB career batting over .300 while also surpassing 600 home runs and 3,000 hits? Just about nobody. Take a bow, big man.
