VIDEO: Angels' Andrew Heaney Honors Tyler Skaggs With Special First Pitch
By Jerry Trotta
The baseball community has publicly mourned the sudden and tragic passing of Angels starter Tyler Skaggs, who was found unresponsive in the club's hotel in Arlington, Texas a little over a week ago. Los Angeles has elected to honor his memory with a memorial patch on their jerseys for the remainder on the season. Various players around the league have also paid tribute to Skaggs in touching, unique fashions, but we might have just witnessed the most authentic one yet. Check out Andrew Heaney honor his late friend by replicating his signature slow curveball as his first pitch Saturday evening against the Astros.
The night is young, but this is absolutely, far and away, the best thing that you will see this evening.
You could watch Skaggs pitch for just a few innings and in that short time frame you would quickly come to terms with the fact that he boasted one of the most lethal curveballs in all of baseball.
What a beautiful, heartfelt gesture from Heaney.
