VIDEO: Anthony Davis Denies Having Said He'd Consider Playing for Bulls
By Andy Loughmiller
Anthony Davis is emerging as the NBA's most skilled big man while serving as LeBron James' right-hand man. Davis is thriving (duh) as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, but he will technically have the opportunity to hit free agency and test the market after this season concludes, which means everything he says to the media is going to be overanalyzed to the nth degree. His comments in an interview conducted in his hometown of Chicago have already led to rampant speculation, which AD, uh...tried to quell in the aftermath.
Davis denies having said that he would consider playing for the Chicago Bulls next season. Footage from the interview in question seems to confirm AD's claim, but there's no doubting he raised a few eyebrows by leaving the door somewhat open.
Although Davis certainly implied that he would at least think about signing with the Bulls by saying, "There's nothing like playing at home," he is telling the truth that he never explicitly said that he'd consider playing for Chicago.
Signing with the Bulls in free agency wouldn't make a lot of sense for a superstar like Davis, who is searching for rings. Chicago has a couple of nice young players on their roster, but they are still years away from being a contender.
Plus, AD blatantly forced his way out of New Orleans in order to specifically play alongside LeBron James in Los Angeles. He and James seem to be meshing quite well, too. After clarifying his Bulls comments, Davis went on to say that he is focused on a championship with the Lakers.
As he should be.
