VIDEO: Anthony Rendon Opens Scoring Against Cubs With Solo Bomb
By Sean Facey
Anthony Rendon is on an unreal tear right now. The Washington Nationals third baseman entered play on Sunday with a .714 slugging percentage over his last seven games, and he's showing no signs of slowing down. Rendon ripped a solo home run off of Chicago Cubs starter Cole Hamels to open up the scoring and give the Nationals a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.
The blast was his 29th of the year and gave him his 103rd RBI on the season, just two shy of divisional rival Freddie Freeman for the MLB lead.
Rendon has shouldered a massive burden on offense this year for the Nats, and it's swings like these that are the reason they're on top of the Cubs in the NL Wild Card standings.
