Anthony Rendon is taking over for the Washington Nationals at the absolute perfect time. Already with a two-run home run to his name that made a one-run margin into a more comfortable 5-2 affair in Game 6 of the World Series, he stepped up in the ninth inning with two outs and delivered again, driving in two more Nats to make it lucky sevens for the away team.

Suddenly, it feels like the outrageous seventh-inning brouhaha that unjustly axed Trea Turner at first base and subsequently got Davey Martinez ejected happened years ago. This game was all Washington when it truly mattered.
