VIDEO: Anthony Rizzo Slaps 2-Run Shot off Kenley Jansen in Top of 9th Inning to Give Cubs the Lead
By Karl Rasmussen
Kenley Jansen is one of the game's best closers, but he met one of baseball's finest sluggers in the ninth inning on Saturday. Anthony Rizzo came up to the plate, following Kris Bryant getting hit by a pitch, and Rizzo delivered a towering two-run bomb, giving the Cubbies a 2-1 lead.
Jansen left a 2-0 pitch hanging right over the plate, and Rizzo absolutely clobbered it. After a game with minuscule run production, the Cubs' first baseman got the flood gates flowing in the final frame of the evening.
After an incredibly strong outing from Yu Darvish, the Cubs are finally tacking on some runs. Darvish won't get the win, but his pitching performance is why the Cubs were able to claw back into this one late in the game.
