VIDEO: Alex Bregman Apologizes for Carrying Bat to First Base Because Baseball is a Game for Old Men
By Michael Luciano

After annihilating a Stephen Strasburg fastball all the way to Nacogdoches in the first inning Tuesday night, Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman carried his bat all the way to first base. It was pretty cool and unique without being overly obnoxious; in other words, a perfect celebration. However, because baseball's culture is decided upon by a bunch of silver-haired old curmudgeons who shudder whenever they hear talk of WAR and FIP, Bregman was cornered into a contrite apology in the postgame, following a devastating loss.

Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto, conversely, was anything but repentant after he mimicked Bregman's celebration.
Soto carried his bat down the line after annihilating a Justin Verlander fastball into the right field stands, and failed to apologize in a postgame interview, instead just joyously taking credit for a cool thing he did.

When you "Let The Kids Play," this is what you get, and we're pretty sure that everyone without an AARP card loved seeing that.
Shame on the game's culture for forcing an apology from Bregman, as apparently he now must subscribe to the ridiculous "unwritten rules" of baseball that prevent any semblance of human emotion.
