VIDEO: Astros Get Ripped Off by Umpire Alan Porter on Botched Catcher's Interference Call

Amid Yuli Gurriel's two-run double in the first and a pair of Washington Nationals solo homers, courtesy of Ryan Zimmerman and Juan Soto, there's some controversy afoot in Game 1 of the World Series. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Houston Astros had Yordan Alvarez on first base, with Josh Reddick looking to move him over...or take his base. During his at-bat, Reddick's bat hit the forward-moving glove of Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki, in what is a clear instance of catcher's interference, which should've given Reddick first base. Against all odds, there was no such call from home plate umpire Alan Porter, who checked in and asked Suzuki if he was "okay"...but called nothing.

If Porter had called for interference, Reddick would've automatically taken first base. Instead, he flied out to left field. George Springer walked with two outs, however, meaning we would've had the bases loaded with one down for Jose Altuve, if everything had been properly called.

And no, you can't challenge this.

Altuve grounded out to end the inning, leaving Houston scoreless and momentum-less. Of COURSE the Nationals responded with three runs in the top half of the next inning.

That's how it goes.
