VIDEO: Astros Strike First in Game 2 With Carlos Correa RBI Double off James Paxton
By Jerry Trotta
With Justin Verlander on the bump in a pivotal Game 2 of the ALCS, the Houston Astros' offense needed to play their part and get to James Paxton before Aaron Boone turned to his world-beating bullpen. Well, Carlos Correa appears to have heard that message loud and clear, as he smacked an RBI double down the left field line to plate Alex Bregman in the second inning to give the Astros a 1-0 lead over the New York Yankees.
Down 2-0 in the count, Paxton laid a hanging breaking ball on a silver platter to Correa and the All-Star shortstop wasted no time pouncing on it.
Boone had Paxton on a short leash and pulled him in the third, as Houston's lineup hit the left-hander hard in the early stages.
