VIDEO: Austin Meadows Silences Yankee Stadium Crowd With Solo Shot in Extras
By Mark Powell
Austin Meadows doesn't care about the pressure that comes with playing at Yankee Stadium. Instead, the Rays outfielder delivered a solo shot in extra innings to reclaim the AL East lead, with the rubber match looming on Sunday.
Masahiro Tanaka pitched a gem through six innings, but left the game after taking a line drive to the shin. Despite the Yankees excellent bullpen, the Rays were able to scratch across the run in extras off the bat of Meadows, who continues to prove the Pirates got royally fleeced in the Chris Archer trade.
