VIDEO: Benches Clear in Cubs-Reds After Pedro Strop Drills Yasiel Puig
By Jerry Trotta

Scenes at Great American Ballpark! The Cincinnati Reds might currently be in the basement of the NL Central standings, but their rivalry with the Chicago Cubs is still as bitter as if both clubs were battling out atop the division. Pedro Strop beamed Yasiel Puig with a 94 MPH fastball in the bottom of the eighth inning and the animated outfielder had every intention of charging the mound. And if not for Willson Contreras' interference, things could have gotten mighty ugly in a hurry in Cincy.
Hitting Yasiel Puig in the batter's box? Not a great idea. pic.twitter.com/IaeeuSvqy1

As we understand, Yasiel did nothing earlier in the game to warrant Strop intentionally throwing at him. While we don't know if Strop had any intention of throwing at Puig, the Reds OF certainly reacted as such.
Let's just be thankful for Contreras' intrusion because Puig was unquestionably ready to POUNCE on Strop.
