VIDEO: Bobby Cox Takes First Visit to SunTrust Park to Watch Braves Following His Stroke
By Parker White
All of Braves Country was devastated back in April when news came out that Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox suffered a severe stroke that left him hospitalized. Cox is now home and continuing his rehab program. On Monday, he made his return to SunTrust Park for the first time since suffering the stroke. Braves fans are going to love seeing this:
They showed Cox on the video board to welcome him back, and almost immediately fans and players applauded. The Braves skipper smiled and waved to the crowd when he was acknowledged.
Before the game, as you can imagine, Braves manager Brian Snitker caught up with Cox and took a picture. You can't beat this.
This couldn't come at a more perfect time, as the Braves begin a two-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays in an interleague series.
Luckily, the 78-year-old Cox has regained feeling on his right side, and his speech has also improved. He's still in recovery mode, but it was a great sign that he was able to walk around a little at ballpark and watch the team he loves so much.
