VIDEO: Braves' Chris Martin Throws Immaculate Inning Against Phillies
By Scott Rogust
A bit of MLB history was made on Wednesday night during a meeting between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. In the seventh inning, Braves right-hander Chris Martin entered in relief of starter Dallas Keuchel, and he made quick work of his time toeing the rubber. Martin struck out Cesar Hernandez, Jay Bruce, and Logan Morrison on nine total pitches, achieving the prestigious immaculate inning.
Martin now joins Josh Hader, Thomas Pannone, Chris Sale (twice), Stephen Strasburg, and Kevin Gausman as the pitchers to throw an immaculate inning during the 2019 season.
On top of that, Martin is the first Brave to toss an immaculate inning since Buddy Carlyle accomplished the feat in 2007.
Chris Martin's name will now be etched in the MLB history books, and he tossed what will likely be the cleanest inning of his career in the process.
