VIDEO: Braves' First-Rounder Braden Shewmake is Absolutely Raking Since Joining Pros

The Braves' scouting department has done a tremendous job in finding talent to one day make an impact in the MLB. We already see it starting to happen with Ozzie Albies, Dansby Swanson and Ronald Acuña Jr. all adding to the new wave of young talent in Atlanta. And now with first-round pick of 2019 Braden Shewmake already leaving his mark in the minors, Braves fans have a lot to look forward to.

Shewmake has only played a total of six games in the minors so far but that small sample size has given us just a little taste of what the Braves' prospect can do.

The shortstop has a slash line of .458/.458/.708 in his young pro career. He also clubbed his first long ball of the year on Tuesday and has gone 10-for-18 in his last four games.

Shewmake was a standout when while playing college ball at Texas A&M. He was named an All-SEC performer twice and was named National Freshman of the Year in 2017.

Throughout his time with the Aggies, Shewmake batted .321 with 21 home runs, 36 doubles, and 10 triples to add to what was an impressive college career.

His next challenge will be doing that en route to the Braves' MLB roster.
