VIDEO: Braves OF Ender Inciarte Exits Game After Suffering Hamstring Injury While Running Bases
By Karl Rasmussen
Ender Inciarte was just activated from the IL in mid-July, but it looks like he may be headed back to the shelf. The Braves' outfielder picked up a hamstring injury while scoring during the second inning of their contest against the Dodgers. Inciarte was in visible pain after crossing the plate, and immediately went into the clubhouse.
You never want to see a player react like that to an injury. Inciarte was clearly in a lot of pain and he would not return to the game.
The Braves later clarified that it was a right hamstring injury, and he'll likely undergo tests to determine the severity of the knock.
When Inciarte was sidelined earlier in the season, Austin Riley was called up to fill the void. Unfortunately the young slugger is also on the shelf after picking up an LCL injury.
Should Inciarte hit the IL, the Braves will have an interesting decision to make, though they may just opt to recall Adam Duvall or Johan Camargo from Triple-A, rather than call-up a prospect.
On the year, Inciarte is slashing .242/.341/.389 with 5 home runs and 24 RBI. He has swiped 7 bags on the year, failing to have the same impact on the bases as he did last year.
