VIDEO: Brian McCann Announcing Retirement After NLDS Loss Shows How Much the Braves Mean to Him
How do you say goodbye to something you love with all of your heart? For Braves veteran catcher Brian McCann, this is something he had to answer before the postseason even started. On Wednesday night, he announced his retirement from the bigs, but said he knew this would be his last dance about a month ago. As you can see in the clip below, none of this was easy for him.
From the look on his face, to the sound of his voice, you see a man who is heartbroken. The Braves lost Game 5 of their NLDS showdown with the Cardinals, ending their season and McCann's career.
McCann spent 10 of his 15 years with Atlanta. He returned for one last campaign with this team, hoping to get back to the World Series. Though he fell short of his goal, no one can deny he was one of the best catchers to do it over that span.
The man will go down as a Braves legend. He loves this team, and the fans love him right back. The memories he provided the city of Atlanta won't soon be forgotten.
