VIDEO: Bryce Harper Destroys Solo Shot to Put Phillies Ahead of Mets
By Charles Nason
Ring the bell and praise the bamboo. Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper absolutely crushed a 97 mph pitch to give Philadelphia their first run in the fourth game of a series with the New York Mets, in what had been a pitcher's duel up until the $330 million man stepped into the batter's box in the sixth inning.
The Phils are looking for a sweep of the Mets with a win on Thursday. After a brutal seven-game losing streak, infielder Brad Miller placed a small bamboo plant in his locker and later that night the Phillies snapped the losing streak, who haven't lost since.
Bryce hasn't made a ton of contact this year, pacing the National League in strikeouts, but when he gets a hold of a pitch, he does so with power. This ball was crushed, exiting the park at 110 mph and traveling 438 feet.
