VIDEO: Bryse Wilson Shuts Down Phillies to Notch First Win of Season
By Scott Rogust
Wednesday night's game between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies was a battle for NL East supremacy. However, the real storyline to come out of the divisional matchup was the impressive performance of Braves pitcher Bryse Wilson, who earned his first MLB win of the season. Wilson allowed just two runs in six innings, while walking two batters and striking out five. One of those strikeouts came at the expense of Phillies star Rhys Hoskins, who froze from Wilson's paint-job.
Hoskins wasn't the only one who was victimized by Wilson's ability to paint the corners, as Cesar Hernandez suffered the same fate.
In his first career start on March 30, Wilson pitched a no-decision against the Phillies, surrendering four earned runs in 3.1 innings.. His second start came against the Chicago Cubs, which was again a no-decision, where he gave up four earned runs in 4.1 innings.
Now, Wilson has the much-desired 1-0 record on the season, and will look to continue to build off Wednesday's performance throughout the season.
