VIDEO: Cardinals' Matt Carpenter Ties Game 1 and Adam Duvall Guns Out Go-Ahead Run From Left Field
By Scott Rogust
Game 1 of the NLDS is all tied up! The St. Louis Cardinals faced a 3-1 deficit to the Atlanta Braves in the sixth inning, but cut into it thanks to a Paul Goldschmidt solo bomb. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cardinals had a man on first and second base with two outs on the board. Matt Carpenter hit a bloop single to a massive opening in left field, allowing Paul DeJong to score. Kolten Wong was feeling overanxious, as he ran home but was gunned out by Braves left fielder Adam Duvall to end the inning.
Matt Carpenter was pumped to tie the game, but man, has Kolten Wong had himself a bad Game 1.
