VIDEO: Carlos Correa Destroys JA Happ Fastball on First Pitch of 11th Inning to Walk Off for Astros
By Adam Weinrib
The Houston Astros bullpen kept them in Game 2 of the ALCS against the Yankees, an absolute must-win following a Game 1 faceplant. Carlos Correa made sure their hard work didn't go to waste. After a strange top of the inning marred by a brutal missed call on a Gary Sanchez "foul tip," followed by a clear makeup call strike three, Correa stomped on the first offering he saw, ending the game in style.
Of course, Correa kept the Yankees' best chance at scoring a run themselves off the board in the sixth, nailing DJ LeMahieu at the plate on a wild peg.
This blast energized a Houston crowd desperate for a release.
The series is now evened up at 1 game apiece, heading to the Bronx, where Gerrit Cole will face Luis Severino. When every player's a star, the stakes are magnified.
