VIDEO: Carlos Correa Says Report About Carlos Beltran 'Intimidating' Young Players is 'BS'
By Michael Luciano
The latest series of reports surrounding the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal showed that former Astros outfielder and already former New York Mets manager Carlos Beltran was at the center of the of the entire operation. Furthermore, Beltran was apparently such a commanding presence, younger players were scared to call him out for fear of social rejection. Shortstop Carlos Correa, one of the many Astros apologizing profusely on Thursday, claimed that whole report was "BS" and said Beltran never did anything like what was mentioned.
Beltran was fired as Mets manager when the floodgates opened on this scandal, but Correa is determined to not sully his name any further.
Correa does appear to be more genuine in his apology than most of his teammates, but the line "we all had a say in what we did" speaks to the fact that you can't point the finger at one player as the ringleader, nor can anyone be absolved.
Beltran may no longer be with the Astros, but his involvement in the sign-stealing scandal is going to loom over this franchise for the foreseeable future, and no amount of apologies will fix that.
