VIDEO: Carlos Gonzalez Delivers First Home Run in Cubs Uniform as Chicago Completes Sweep Over Cards
By Thomas Carannante
CarGONE! The Chicago Cubs entered Sunday Night Baseball looking to sweep the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals and return the favor after what happened last time the two teams faced off. With the Cubs up 4-1 in the eighth, Carlos Gonzalez made sure that would happen as he hit his first homer with Chicago to extend the lead.
We've certainly missed seeing the smooth swing that's cranked a ton of homers out of the park in the past. CarGo's arrival in Chicago has been a good one so far after he's struggled bouncing around the league since leaving the Rockies.
But his bat seems to be back for the moment and the Cubs couldn't be happier. Their offense is consistency producing runs, and behind another vintage Kyle Hendricks performance you can bet they were getting that win to sweep the Cardinals.
