VIDEO: Carlos Santana Rips 32nd Homer of the Year With Opposite Field Blast vs White Sox
By Michael Luciano
The resurgence of Cleveland Indians slugger Carlos Santana continues. After struggling in 2018 with the Philadelphia Phillies, the one year in his MLB career he played outside of Cleveland, an offseason trade brought him back to the banks of Lake Erie, and the 33-year-old Santana is having the best season of his career. Santana took White Sox lefty reliever Jace Fry deep the other way, giving him home run No. 32 on the season and the Indians a 7-3 lead over Chicago.
Santana has a career high in home runs (32), batting average (.290), and OPS (.954) in 2019.
After the worst year of his career at age-32 in Philadelphia, plenty were ready to give up on him. However, he has more than answered the doubts and has been torching AL Central pitching in 2019.
Make no mistake about it, the Indians would not be vying for an AL Central title without him in the heart of the order.
