VIDEO: Carmelo Anthony Drops 26 Points and Swaps Jerseys With Marcus Morris in Return to MSG
Carmelo Anthony was a fan favorite during his time with the New York Knicks and received a warm welcome Wednesday night when his Portland Trail Blazers came to town. Anthony had 26 points but the Knicks pulled off a rare victory to start the new year. Still, Melo received a standing ovation from the crowd and even swapped jerseys with Marcus Morris after the game.
This was the perfect outcome for Knicks fans. They got to cheer for Anthony in his MSG return while also watching their team win. He clearly fed off the good vibes as he was the game's leading scorer, shooting 11-for-17 from the field.
Anthony was with the Knicks from 2011-2017 and helped the team reach the postseason in his first three years in town. The team struggled after that stretch, but fans still flocked to The Garden to see Anthony put on a show every game.
The Knicks were never great with Anthony, but he provided fans with much better memories than what has taken place since his departure.
