VIDEO: Casey Mize's Filthy Fastball-Splitter Overlay Proves Why He's Impossible to Hit
By Sean Facey
When the Detroit Tigers drafted starter Casey Mize with the first overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft, they knew they were getting an elite pitching prospect. He's lived up to the hype so far, posting a 1.21 ERA in Double-A this year, and this overlay of his fastball and splitter proves why he's impossible to hit.
The arm slot is the same, but the pitches couldn't be more different. It's impossible to pick up whether he's blazing his mid-90s fastball over the plate or burying his nasty splitter in the dirt.
So long as he keeps those deliveries consistent, he should have no trouble making his opponents look absolutely foolish, as he's done throughout his Double-A Erie tenure, highlighted by a no-hitter. Watch this on repeat, Detroit. We won't blame you.
