VIDEO: CC Sabathia Gets Touching Ovation After Walking off Mound in Final Start at Yankee Stadium

Scenes at Yankee Stadium! CC Sabathia's start on Wednesday night was slated to be his last regular-season outing in Pinstripes. Of course, the former Cy Young announced before the campaign that 2019 would be his last as a big leaguer. With the bases loaded and two out in the top of the third inning, manager Aaron Boone signaled to the bullpen and CC subsequently walked off the mound to one final, thunderous standing ovation in the Bronx. The Yankees beloved left-hander was even greeted by teammates outside of the dugout for an emotional reception.

It's apparent that Sabathia was unable to repress his emotions and why should he? He defied the odds and overcame his lingering knee injury to return before the postseason. More importantly, he's walking away from the game he loves after 19 seasons of sheer excellence.

The fan-favorite logged 305 career starts for the Yankees, winning a World Series with the team in 2009 and cementing himself as a fan favorite throughout his 11-year tenure in the Bronx.

While he is still an option to pitch in the postseason, there's a real chance that this was his final outing at Yankee Stadium, and possibly the last time he'll toe the rubber of an MLB mound.

Let it all out big fella!
