Yankees fans urged him on, hoping to give him the adrenaline boost needed to get through his final batter, but unfortunately, after throwing out a practice pitch, Sabathia signaled that he'd be unable to continue.
He walked off the field to a thunderous applause from Yankees fans, who hold him in the highest of regards.
It's truly a shame that what is very likely his last appearance as a Yankee was cut short due to injury, especially considering he's been dealing with ailments throughout most of the season.
CC you in Cooperstown.

The future Hall of Famer was clearly distraught as he walked off the field, but there was not a soul in Yankee Stadium who felt any ill will towards the beloved lefty.
Yankee fans were heartbroken to see their leader exit the game in such fashion, but the standing ovation he received should serve as a reminder of the legacy he leaves behind.
